The developers from Image and Form Games are seemingly determined to tackle every kind of genre in their series of SteamWorld games. This time they take on classic deck building and rpg elements in SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech. At first glance, the game looks remarkably similar to Slay the Spire, at least graphically. Then again, the SteamWorld games have always featured the same style of hand drawn graphics.
It was this screen in particular that brought STS to mind
Image and Form detailed the game as: “What awaits you is a luscious treasure chest filled with gold, dragons, vivid worlds, magic, knights in shining armor as well as XP, turn-based battles and all that good RPG stuff!” SteamWorld Quest will be out later in 2019 for Nintendo Switch.
Also shown during the direct was WarGroove, a strategy game that might as well be a continuation of the Advance Wars series. Chucklefish, the same developers of Stardew Valley, are at the helm which is very promising. CrossCode had some footage as well, announcing the Switch port. think of this one as Maplestory meets Zelda. You can watch both trailers below.
