Overlord is not the first “Nazi Zombie” movie, that would be the 1941 film King of the Zombies, but it is setting itself apart from the largely B-Movie-esque history. While it was originally going to tie into the Cloverfield franchise, this being the fourth film, the producer JJ Abrams announced earlier this year that it would be a standalone story. After the major letdown and mind numbing continuity errors in the Cloverfield Paradox, this leaves a lot of questions as to how they would have tied Overload in. Would the serum used to resurrect the dead somehow tie into the creation of the Coverfield monster? Would the Zombies fight the monster? Would JJ Abrams appear on screen midway through the movie and explain exactly what the tie in is?
Seeing a resurgence of interest in the Nazi Zombie concept after the critical and commercial success of the COD series multiplayer mode, it was only a matter of time before we saw a big budget film that explored it. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think!
