Netflix and Matt Groening’s Disenchantment

Disenchantment is the brain child of Matt Groening. The man that brought us The Simpsons, and Futurama. The recent teaser trailer that Netflix released on June 28th, 2018, has me on board immediately. It features a few of the voice actors that Groening has on on all of his projects, Billy West, John DiMaggio, and a few newcomers, such as Eric Andre, and Abbi Jacobson.

In the brief 45 seconds we get with Disenchantment, they happen to show off quite a bit of interesting things. The art style chosen for when they zoom into the castle looks amazing. There’s something about the cel-shaded-esque that really captures you. That, coupled with the 3D aspect just draws your eyes right in. The character art seems to be that trademark Groening style that we’re all familiar with.

Where Futurama explored the future, and The Simpsons deals with the presentDisenchantment sets out to tackle the past. As much as I loved Futurama, I feel like because of the setting of Disenchantment alone, it could have the possibility of becoming my favourite Groening series.

I’m very excited to see what adventures Bean, Elfo, and Luci get into, when Disenchantment’s first 10 episodes go live on Netflix on August 17th, 2018.
